PREMIER LEAGUE TEAM OF THE WEEK
After a goal ladden start to the premier league , match day 5 took an unusual turn, three games ended in barren draws include Chelsea vs Arsenal. Some players stepped up when the team needed them the most Jermain Defoe scoring and others still struggling to hit form Christian Beneteke is one .
My premier league team of the week is arranged in a 3-4-3 formation.
(GK) Lukas Fabianski-Swansea
Special mention to Frazer Foster whose saves got Southampton over the line against palace.
Fabianski was solid throughout the game against Spurs. He made 9 saves and commanded the area throughout the game. Why he gets the nod ahead of Frazer in my Team is the level of pressure he was under considering Spurs lion share of possession throughout the game.
(CB) Federico Fernandez-Swansea
Swansea’s captain organized his backline throughout the game considering his team was under severe pressure start to finish They looked solid and never lost their shape.
(CB) Jamaal Lascelles- Newcastle
Youngest captain in the premier league leading by example. He scored in two successive games and Newcastle have gone on to gain three crucial points in both games.
His patnership with Ciara Clark looks promising too. That partnership was vital in the victory against Stoke.
(CB) Shkodran Mustafi-Arsenal
Maybe his best game for Arsenal till date. He looked commanding and assured against Chelsea. He looked sharp and showed great mobility against Chelsea. Kept In form Morata in his pockets throughout the game.
(RWB) Antonio Valencia-Manchester United
You would think he’s played right back all his life with his defensive display against Everton, Stopped Baines from whipping crosses into Man United box. He also offered a priceless contribution by scoring a stunning volley at the other end.
(LWB) Matt Ritche-Newcastle United
He’s becoming the creator in chief of this Newcastle team.
He assisted both goals in Newcastle win and put on a shift all game.
(CM) Nemanja Matic-Manchester United
Had to step up in Paul Pogbas absence against Everton. Protected his defenders well especially when Man Utds lead was hanging on a thread after scoring an early goal.
He almost got on the scorers chat with a long range effort.
(CM) Granit Xhaka -Arsenal
Played a pivotal role in Arsenals draw against Chelsea making sure Contes team didn’t score for the first time in Stamford Bridge.
He dictated the tempo of the game which is very difficult when Kante is always snapping at your feet.
Put in a shift defensively too didn’t give Fabregas too much time on the ball in midfield.
(ATT) David Silva -Manchester City
Got two assists against Watford. Showed different qualities he can bring to the team in both assists.
One was a pin-point cross for Otamendi to head come and the other was a short pass from the by-line for Aguero tap in. He’s the lubricant of this team.
He keeps things ticking bringing everyone into the game with exceptional vision.
(ATT) Jordan Ibe- Bournemouth
Came on in the 62nd minute when his team was on its way to a 5th league loss and got both assists in the goals that ensured Bournemouth got their first 3 points this season.
(Str) Sergio Aguero-Manchester City
Got an hat-trick this weekend against Watford and he scores goals with ease.
The three goals against Watford showed his all-round quality-an header , a tap in and a solo effort. Showed maturity by allowing Sterling to score from the spot for the sixth goal.
