Antonio Conte injured in Chelsea training

Chelsea boss Antonio Conte has sustained a calf strain in training ahead of the side’s Premier League clash with Stoke.

Conte is renowned for his hands-on approach during training sessions and is understood to have pulled up while running with his players at Chelsea’s training complex in Cobham.

The Daily Mail suggests the 47-year-old’s injury is not serious so Blues supporters should expect to see him in the dugout at Stamford Bridge on New Year’s Eve.

Conte’s side go into the match against Mark Hughes’ men off the back of 12 victories on the bounce in the English top flight.

Players who have previously trained under the highly-respected Italian claim his sessions are ‘back-breaking’ so it’s, perhaps, no surprise he’s fallen victim to his own intense methods.

Chelsea’s players have no new injuries ahead of the match with the Potters and John Terry looks to be closing in on a return to first-team action.

The 36-year-old defender uploaded a video to Instagram of himself scoring a wonder-goal in training earlier this week.
